Celebrating,"El Dia de San Juan” this festival is a cultural event held annually.
This event brings together the Puerto Rican/Hispanic communities, while uniting a host of diverse cultures and nationalities through music and dance.

Fantastic local and International artists, DJs, Dance Instructors, and dance performances.
Workshops for all ages in Bachata, Salsa, Cuban, Cha-Cha-Cha, Tango, Kizomba, Zumba and more!

This event is a fundraiser to create scholarships for our Hispanic youth.

Luisito Rosario

Luisito Rosario - New York City

Luisito Rosario has been around in the Salsa scene for many years, and has traveled the world time and time again. He has shared with stage with such great and legendary Salsa artists as Ismael Miranda, Larry Harlow, Yomo Toro, Junior “Hommy” Gonzalez, Adalberto Santiago, “El Cano Estremera”, Nestor Sanchez, Johnny Rivera, Oscar De Leon and many more just to name a few.

In 1996, the legendary Larry Harlow from the Fania All-Stars hired Luisito to be lead vocalist for his orchestra (Latin Legends of Fania).Luisito also recorded “Tumba y Bongo” in 2002 for Larry Harlow’s 35th anniversary CD where he, along with Mr. Nestor Sanchez recorded all the background vocals. Also in 1996 Luisito joined the popular Salsa band in New York City “Grupo Hechizo” and recorded lead vocals in their 1998 CD “Sin Limites” which charted in the Top Five of the United States record pools. In 1999 Luisito sang lead vocals and traveled the world with “Los Hermanos Moreno”. In 2010 Luisito decides to create his own record label and production company and records “Casino Rueda” where is took the role as composer and producer of his 3rd CD.

Luisito Rosario gives 110% to his fans every time he hits the
stage, but at the same time remains humble and accessible to everyone he comes in contact with. He always says the “The Stars are up in the night skies, I’m just a man with a God given talent and sharing it with the world” EH LA COSA!

Son Caribe

Eddie Ortiz Y The Son Caribe Band

The Son Caribe Band has performed along side and opened concerts for almost every major Latin music event since 2002! They have recorded music for television and radio commercial broadcasts - among them international clothing company 88 Tee's and University Of Hawaii Sports Television. Son Caribe has performed as the opening band for GRAMMY winning Latin music luminaries CELIA CRUZ and PONCHO SANCHEZ. They've performed and shared the stage with Latin music recording artists JOHNNY POLANCO, LUISITO ROSARIO, CHINO ESPINOZA, TITO PUENTE JR., FRANKIE MORALES, YOKO MIMATA, and JIMMY BOSCH. Most recently they shared the stage with salsa singing legend HERMAN OLIVERA during a 3-night engagement in Honolulu and Waikiki! Along with its trademark Latin music, Son Caribe also performs big band, jazz, contemporary and top 40 music.

Edie the Salsa Freak - Denver, Colorado

Edie has traveled to 63 countries teaching the world to dance, and has been the first American to teach in 18 of those countries. She is truly a salsa legend and is known for her clear, concise and entertaining teaching methods. It's been many years since Edie was last here in Honolulu and we are excited to have her back!

Edie has been awarded three International Lifetime Achievement Awards in Europe and the United States. She was voted by her peers and students "Best International Instructor" at the Los Angeles Congress, British International Salsa Festival (two years running), and Switzerland Congress in Zurich. She was the Guest of Honor at the Curacao Salsa Festival and the First Annual Swiss Congress. She has taken first place in numerous dance competitions, most notably the famous Mayan competition out of Los Angeles, California, and the International Salsa and Hustle Pro Salsa Championships in Miami, Florida.

Alaksa Dance Promotions

Michelle Holland & Chris Alonzo of Alaska Dance Promotions

Michelle Holland
Michelle is fourth generation Alaskan who is in love with the Latin dances because of the creativity and diversity Salsa & Bachata offers to all ages, races and professions among the dancers. Michelle is a certified Salsa instructor through DVIDA and Edie’s Professional Instructors Course. Michelle owns the Alaska Dance Promotions studio and is the host of the Alaska Salsa Festival. Her energy and passion for dance is contagious.

Chris Alonzo
Originally from Arizona, Chris was part of a Rueda Dance Team in ASU. Chris is a Salsa DVIDA Ballroom instructor and also took the instructors training program with Edie the Salsa Freak. Chris currently teaches classes and the dance teams at Alaska Dance Promotions and at events around the nation. He is precise and clear with his teaching and his love for social dancing and dancers is evident in everything he does.

This year is Michelle and Chris third year with us. We are thrilled to have them back again.

Gustavo Patzan - Toronto, Canada

Gustavo Patzan puts on a show like no other. Featuring an ensemble of seasoned and first-time performers, this team brings soul, class and a hard-hitting flavor to the international Latin dance scene. Gustavo Patzan infuses a unique modern style with vintage mambo. Emerging from Toronto’s dance scene in 2008, he has performed, taught and traveled in many international dance floors such as Israel, Istanbul, Sweden, Bermuda to name a few.

Gustavo Patzan also is the founder of GUSTO Entertainment, hosting the hottest Latin and Salsa socials/ club nights in Toronto and Montreal, and Calgary, Canada. A promotional company that always will be an expression of life, culture, salsa and spirit that will strike any audience or social aspect on the deepest chord. This is mambo at it’s best.

Baza Dance - Vancouver, Canada

Baza Dance is the exciting salsa duo comprised of Wayne Barbaza and Kristal Wei. These Toronto-trained dancers now call Vancouver, British Columbia their home. They are known for their groove, funk and extreme musicality. They have established themselves as top notch instructors, dynamic performers and social butterflies. They both have a deep passion to grow the Salsa dance scene in Vancouver while strengthening the community bonds within it, and believe it's only a matter of time before this love spreads to the rest of the world!

Mira Schwartzburg

Nadia and Mira of New Skin Dance Company - Toronto, Canada

Conceptualized in early 2010 by Nadia Vargola and Mira Schwartzburg, New Skin Dance Company was born out of burning passion for latin music and a desire to create unique dance choreographies that will as fun to watch as they are to perform.

Artistic director and choreographer, Mira Schwartzburg, has a unique approach to dance. Treating each routine as a precious art creation, Mira starts with finding music that "gets the creative juices flowing" to start the creation of the routine in her mind.

Co-founder and Public Relations Director, Nadia Vargola is the driving force behind the bookings of New Skin shows, performances and debuts.

Anthony Umina Bachatamante

Anthony Umina - Atlanta, GA

Anthony Umina is an accomplished Salsa dancer from the Bay Area. He began his career with Joelle Maletis in 2006 at San Jose State University. A year later Anthony joined the popular World Championship Team, "Pretty Boys and Girls Productions" in San Francisco, CA where he received the majority of his dance training.  In 2009 Anthony took his first step into the "Bachata world." With Bachata Caliente in Los Angeles, and shortly after partnering up with the World Renowned Josie Neglia to perform and conduct workshops at the 1st Annual California Bachata Congress. He quickly progressed over the next few months entering the 2009 1st Annual Mayan World Bachata Championships and taking 2nd Place. Anthony won 1st Place at the 2009 Sexy and Sensual Latin Dance Championships in London, UK with his partner and Co-Director Marissa Johnson. Recently in San Diego he and Marissa have pioneered San Diego's Newest Dance Company and FIRST 100% Bachata Team with a mission to promote, train, create, spread, and unite Bachateros! 

In January 2012, they proudly announced the re-launch of Bachamante Dance Co. in Atlanta, GA. Anthony teaches zouk, bachata and salsa.


Emcee/Hostess - Lady V

Vakisha Coleman aka Lady V is the best of both worlds. She is the perfect balance of beauty and talent. Her experience as an actress and dancer has given V the confidence to dazzle any crowd on the mic. V’s vast experience ranges from being on tour with Prince as one of his hand picked dancers, acting in shows like Reno 911, movies like Bring it On, you may have seen her dominate contestants on MTV’s hit show “Yo Momma” and much much more. V has an incredible love for music. She enjoys dancing and singing. V is currently does marketing and voiceovers for Clear Channel Radio, MC’s events for 939 Jamz, as well as hosts a weekly Karaoke night. This exceptional lady has style that is second to none!
